Scans of the Rentunan System: A Science Fiction Story (unfinished) 4/07, 6/05
From out of the vastness and eternal nightfall of space-that which sheds but a fraction of its benignant grace on us for a dozen hours every night; even on cloudy nights-among the thick pockets of greenish, nebular dust and colored xeon gas, there is a planet; nay a vast planetary body of superabundant mass and tremendous, oblate size, which is naturally the largest one in the known universe: and its vastness is not to be scoffed at, underestimated, rendered insignificant or disbelieved: for truly, it is at least ten times the size of Betelgeuse-one of of the largest galactic stars on record, whose circumference is just about a million miles and it is proportionate. I'm talking about the crown of the Peialelar Galaxy: Rentunus, the ruling body, capital of the Dendrisian Empire. It is an earthlike planet-but much, much more clean, vivid, alluring, bright, natural, verdurous, calm, dignified, verdant and paradisaical than it's brethren and it is only despoiled by one anthropogenic collective: an urban center-a city; yet it is no blemish: not in itself and not on Rentunus. The great city of Rentunus is Harolk, a vast metropolitan area clogged with buildings and commerce whose streets are so often..........
